Some potential career options within the Department of Environment, Parks, and Water Security include:
- Environmental policy officers are responsible for developing and implementing policies related to environmental management and sustainability. They work closely with other government agencies, stakeholders, and the public to ensure that policies align with the department's goals and objectives.
- Biodiversity conservation officers are responsible for protecting and conserving the Northern Territory's unique plant and animal species. They work to identify and manage threats to biodiversity, develop and implement conservation plans, and monitor the health of ecosystems.
- Climate change specialists work to develop and implement strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change. They may work on issues related to renewable energy, energy efficiency, transportation, and land use.
- Circular Economy Specialists are driving the Territory’s transition to a circular economy by implementing the Circular Economy Strategy. The team is currently working to phase out problematic single use plastics and strengthen our container deposit scheme.
